David Blitzer, MD, MBE, is an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In this position, Dr. Blitzer will divide his time between clinical care, education, and research and scholarly activities.
As a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Blitzer will primarily be based at American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH). He will work with leaders in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Department of Surgery, and the UW Health system to build a congenital robotic program at AFCH. Dr. Blitzer will also partner with the department’s adult surgeons to help build a robotic mitral valve repair program at University Hospital.
Dr. Blitzer recently completed his Congenital Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York. Prior to that, he completed his Integrated Thoracic Surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Blitzer received his medical degree at The University of Pennsylvania, where he also received a master’s degree in Bioethics.
