Daniel Harris, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. In this position, Dr. Harris will divide his time between clinical care, education, and research and scholarly activities.
As a thoracic surgeon, one of Dr. Harris’ areas of interest is lung transplantation. His research opportunities will include the development of his research program focused on the role of T cells (Tregs) in chronic rejection following lung transplant and the use of Tregs in adoptive therapies to provide lung specific immunosuppression.
Recently, Dr. Harris completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to that, he completed his general surgery training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Harris received his medical degree and doctorate
in biochemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
