
Suzanne (Suzie) Inchauste, MD, is an associate professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Inchauste was recruited as the Director of Breast Reconstruction and Lymphedema Surgery within the Division of Plastic Surgery. In this position, she will be responsible for leading and growing the Breast Reconstruction and Lymphedema Surgery Program.
Her extensive clinical training background has given her the background to have a very broad complex reconstructive clinic practice that includes breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, sarcoma and pelvic oncologic reconstruction, vascular malformation reconstruction, complex head and neck reconstruction including facial reanimation.
Her clinical practice will be based primarily at University Hospital, where she will be responsible for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Her research endeavors focus on clinical outcomes research focused on studying free flap breast reconstruction, lymphatic surgery, non-microsurgery breast reconstruction. She is dedicated to global health and teaching to help build sustainable surgical capacity in low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. Inchauste comes to Madison after more than five years as an Assistant Professor and Director of Lymphatic Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center. She received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine where she also completed a general surgery residency. She did an Immunotherapy and Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Inchauste completed her residency in Plastic Surgery from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and her fellowship in Microsurgery from Stanford University – Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
