Dr. Evie Carchman, associate professor in the Division of Colorectal Surgery, was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Postdoc Mentoring Award by the UW–Madison Postdoctoral Association at the annual Celebration of Postdoc Excellence on May 22.
The UW–Madison Postdoctoral Association recognized six postdocs and three faculty with Postdoc Excellence Awards to acknowledge their excellence in mentoring, teaching, and service. Awardees were nominated by their colleagues and mentors, with faculty awardees nominated by their current or former postdocs.
“Those who are fortunate enough to work with and learn from Dr. Evie Carchman recognize that she not only exemplifies the best qualities of a mentor but also of a sponsor, coach, advocate, and role model,” Dr. Corinne Praska, general surgery resident, said. “Her unique ability to foster growth, advocate for her mentees, and tirelessly support them through professional and personal challenges make her exceptionally deserving of this Distinguished Mentoring Award.”
The UW–Madison Postdoctoral Association is a volunteer-led advocacy group for UW–Madison postdocs supported by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. It launched the Postdoc Excellence Awards in 2021 to reward postdocs for their outstanding efforts.
