Gretchen Schwarze, MD, MPP, FACS, was selected as an inaugural member of the National Academy of Medicine’s Emerging Leaders Forum. This program honors and supports early-career leaders in health and medicine who are poised to shape the future of medicine. 12 forum members were selected from across the country.  Forum members participate in mentorship, collaboration, and innovation activities with other members, and provide input on the priorities of the National Academy of Medicine.  Congratulations to Dr. Schwarze on this well-deserved honor!

Dr. Schwarze studies how to improve communication between older patients and their surgeons so that patients can avoid unwanted treatment and make decisions that align with their values, preferences and goals. Learn more about The Patient Preferences Project, led by Dr. Schwarze.
