
Dr. Rebecca Sippel, professor and Chair of the Division of Endocrine Surgery, was awarded the Resident/Fellow Citation – Distinguished Resident Award from the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association (WMAA) at the WMAA Awards Banquet on May 1.
The Resident/Fellow Citation – Distinguished Resident Award honors an individual who has completed a residency or fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and has achieved distinction in medicine. Achievement is recognized through excellence in the practice of medicine, in academic activities and in research accomplishment.
“Dr. Sippel is a UW general surgery residency graduate who has devoted the entirety of her academic career to our university and its students as well as her clinical career to UW Health’s patient population,” Dr. Rebecca Minter, A.R. Curreri Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery, said. “She has made scientific contributions to the worldwide body of knowledge on endocrine cancers and has exhibited leadership and generosity of service. Her unique talents bring prestige not only to our department but to UW as a whole. She is unquestionably an extraordinary alumna of our residency program and a giant in her field.”
